PRESS: RBI may launch Tim Hortons, Popeyes in Russia

MOSCOW, Jan 10 (PRIME) -- Restaurant Brands International (RBI) is studying launching fast food chains Tim Hortons and Popeyes in Russia, Burger King’s President Jose Cil said in an interview to Vedomosti business daily published on Wednesday.

Out of all RBI’s chains, Burger King, has the fastest growth dynamics, and its worldwide sales expanded by 3.6% in July–September 2017. “We were among the world’s fastest growing brands. All RBI restaurants have a huge potential. Tim Hortons has been in our brand family for three years. It is a Canadian network that has started to develop in the U.S. and in the world – in the U.K., in the Philippines, and we are soon to launch restaurants in Spain and Mexico,” Cil said.

RBI bought Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen in March 2017 and hopes that the chain also has potential for global development. When asked about whether the company plans to launch the two chains in Russia, Cil said, “We are studying these possibilities, but it is too early to speak about detailed plans.”

Russia is one of top five markets for Burger King alongside with the U.S., China, Brazil, and Spain, he added.
